OVARIAN CANCER
Ovarian cancer is a type of cancer that develops in the ovaries, which are female reproductive organs that produce eggs and hormones. Ovarian cancer often goes undetected until it has spread within the pelvis and abdomen, making it more difficult to treat.
There are several different types of ovarian cancer, including epithelial ovarian cancer (the most common type), germ cell ovarian cancer, and stromal ovarian cancer. Symptoms of ovarian cancer may include abdominal bloating or swelling, pelvic pain, difficulty eating or feeling full quickly, and frequent urination.
Risk factors for ovarian cancer include a family history of ovarian or breast cancer, age (the risk increases with age), having never been pregnant, using fertility drugs, and certain genetic mutations.
Treatment for ovarian cancer typically involves surgery to remove the tumor and surrounding tissue, as well as chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy. The specific treatment plan will depend on the type and stage of the cancer, as well as the individual patient's overall health and preferences.
